There are 5-1/2 components to a thorough and effective carpet clean:
- Use hot water: This is the same principle of using hot water to clean yourself, your dishes, your clothes, etc. Water-soluble substances dissolve more quickly in hot water than in cold water because hot water molecules have more momentum than cold water molecules, which translates to more reaction with the cleaning solution. The truth is that tile grout is a lot more permeable then you probably imagine. Tile grout is the cement-like plaster that holds the tiles in place and protects the corners from getting chipped. Using mops and excessive water to clean your tile floor can actually push grime, moisture and excessive cleaner under the grout and tile. If you have light colored carpet, you may have experienced these dark lines that appear on the carpet. This soiling is called filtration soiling because it comes from air passing through the carpet as it is attempting to get through the crack between the carpet and the baseboard.

You know the type – they “bait” you with a low price, then “switch” you to their “dual scrub” or “deep clean” system. They proceed to soak your carpet and leave a soapy residue behind. Good luck getting them back again!
